Mr. Corey Taylor, Peter Paul RVA, Chief Executive Officer
The LAIRP team equipped me with the training and resources necessary to encourage my staff to become practitioners as well. I began training my staff upon completion of my LAIRP training. The entire team is knowledgeable about practices and ideas that to some, may seem advanced levels of thought. Including the science behind “Right Brain Restorative Practices” gives us a glimpse into how its impact is truly felt. I appreciate working with LAIRP. Their confidence in delivery and knowledge of current practices is exactly what the educational and societal landscapes need.

We reached out to Carlos and LAIRP to help us strengthen the relevance and pertinence of our approach and protocol for student behavior management. We decided to revamp our system and protocol to intervene what we classify as minor behavioral disruptions. We had been working with other consultants on various conceptual frameworks and current trends in this area. At that point we needed support with practical strategies we could implement to accomplish the vision of change we had identified. I think that the LAIRP team goes the extra-mile to understand your community and provide support in what you need. In addition, their practical approach conveys optimism and enthusiasm to leaders, staff and teachers , inspiring confidence in what may seem like a daunting task: promoting a mind shift change regarding a school's approach to student behavior.

Mr. Elias Pappas, Director, Odyssey Charter Schools
We had varying levels of proficiencies with respect to restorative practices as a tool to build classroom culture so we needed a tiered approach to professional development in order to deliver the same level of support to all our students across the district. With the help of their tiered training and LAIRP's manual/guide, we have been able to implement community circles in all classes K-12, appropriate to their school levels. Finally, LAIRP is very professional, relatable, and experts in their field. From our experience, they are the best in the business! We highly recommend Carlos and the LAIRP team and we are looking forward to continuing our work with them in the future.

Ms. Cecilia Sandoval, Aspire Schools, Assistant Principal
We were in search of a reputable organization that could guide and support us in training our entire team on restorative practices. With the help of LAIRP’s tiered training and comprehensive manual/guide, we have successfully implemented community circles in every classroom across grades K-12, each one thoughtfully adapted to be age-appropriate and effective. The training provided us with not only strategies but also the confidence to sustain restorative practices as a school-wide culture. Carlos and his team are extremely professional, approachable, and highly knowledgeable in their field. They bring a level of expertise that is both practical and inspiring, making it easy for educators to connect with the material and put it into practice.

He was patient and attentive, always ready to address our questions and concerns. Carlos’s ability to connect with participants personally fostered trust and collaboration, allowing us to dive deep into the subject matter. The Los Angeles Institute for Right Brain Practices & Research (LAIRP) was born out of the urgent need to rethink how schools address behavioral challenges. In 2013, I [Carlos Alvarez] stepped into a school in South Los Angeles with one of the highest suspension rates in the district. The students most often suspended were not “bad kids,” but young people carrying the weight of trauma, poverty, and community violence. Traditional, punitive systems only deepened their struggles. Instead of doubling down on discipline, I chose to listen, to sit with them, and to build trust through right-brain restorative interactions.
The Los Angeles Institute for Restorative Practices is dedicated to providing culturally responsive expertise through empirical research on behavioral science, social justice, and evidence based on right- brain restorative practices to families, schools, and communities.
